Titanic was built in Belfast, Ireland, before it sailed over to Southampton in England. Ask the Irish and they will tell you “she was alright when she left here”. The authorities of the time gave command of the Titanic to an Englishman called Edward Smith. Six months prior to the Titanic disaster Captain Smith crashed the Olympic (Titanic sister ship) into the Royal Navy battleship HMS Hawke. The Irish are pretty clear about were the blame lies when it comes to apportioning blame for the Titanic disaster.
