The Book of Kells is a hand-written and hand-illustrated manuscript in the Celtic Art style, probably created between 650 and 700 AD. The Celtic style is characterized by dense and intricate decoration, often using spirals, circles and other geometric motifs. The Book of Kells is one of the earliest surviving Irish illuminated gospel books.
